New Aquatics Director Thad Schultz

Today, SPIRE Institute announced the hiring of Thad Schultz as Director of Aquatics. Schultz comes to SPIRE Institute with elite level of coaching experience ranging from the Division I collegiate level to the national club level. Schultz has previously coached at Penn State University, Ohio State University and Clemson University.

During his time at Penn State, Schultz coached 36 NCAA Qualifiers, recruited 41 High School All-Americans and had 24 Academic All-Americans.

While at Ohio State University, Schultz coached four NCAA qualifiers, recruited 15 High-school All-Americans, and coached eight Academic All-American swimmers.

At Clemson University, Schultz coached eight NCAA qualifiers, broke two ACC and 10 school records, helped in recruiting 22 high school All-Americans and eight academic All-Americans.

Thad comes to SPIRE Institute from Charlotte, North Carolina where he was most recently the Head Coach for Team Charlotte Swimming.  While Head Coach, he grew the team to its maximum capacity and tripled the number of sectional qualifiers.

As the Director of SPIRE Aquatics, Thad will be joining the SPIRE Aquatics team with Diana Munz, Olympic Gold Medalist, and Jim Bocci, Coach of multiple Olympians and World Championship Swimmers. These three individuals have extensive coaching backgrounds and provide SPIRE with the unparalleled ability to provide the highest level of elite coaching available.

The SPIRE Aquatics Team works with all levels of our swim program including FINA Scholarship Swimmers, SPIRE Academy Athletes, a large summer swim camp, as well as the best and fastest individual swimmers in the region through the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (LESD) Swim Club, a nationally recognized swim club.

Our FINA scholarship athletes come from around the world to train at SPIRE Institute. These swimmers compete in many international events including the Pan Am Games, The World Championships and the Olympics.

SPIRE Academy Swim Athletes train while balancing a high school or post grad school schedule. http://www.spireinstitute.org/education
